1. What this demo actually does
This website is a proof of concept. Right now:
- Nothing you type into the checkout form is transmitted anywhere. There is no server receiving it and no order is created.
- No payment is processed. The card fields are inert and no card details leave your browser.
- Your cart and clinic name are held in your own browser's
localStorage, on your device only, so your order survives a page reload. Clearing your browser data removes them. - The only third-party request the site makes is to Google Fonts, to load its typefaces.
The sections below describe how the live store will handle information once it launches.
2. Who we are
YakChew supplies white-label yak chews to veterinary practices. When the store is live we are the data controller for the information described here. The operating entity, address and any data-protection representative will be named here before launch.
3. What we collect
Information you give us
- Practice details — clinic name, practice type, delivery address.
- Contact details — contact name, work email, phone number.
- Order details — sizes, case quantities, artwork notes, and the logo or name files you send us for the wrapper.
- Correspondence — emails and messages about proofs, production and delivery.
Information collected automatically
- Basic technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, for security and to understand how the site is used.
We do not ask for, and do not want, information about individual animals, clients of your practice, or clinical records. Please do not send it to us.
4. Why we collect it
- To perform our contract with you — producing your artwork proof, making and shipping your order, invoicing, and support.
- Legitimate interests — keeping records of trade accounts, preventing fraud, improving the site, and contacting existing customers about reorders.
- Legal obligations — tax, accounting and customs records.
- Consent — marketing emails to practices that have not ordered, and showing your finished wrapper as an example of our work. You can withdraw consent at any time.
5. Payment data
When the live store launches, card payments will be handled by Stripe. Card numbers are entered into fields hosted by Stripe and are sent directly to them; we never receive or store your full card number. We keep only the confirmation Stripe returns — a transaction reference, amount, and the last four digits.
Stripe processes that data as an independent controller under its own privacy policy.
6. Who we share it with
- Our manufacturer (The Mountain Pet Company, Nepal) — your clinic name, approved artwork and order quantities, so your batch can be produced and wrapped.
- Freight and customs agents — delivery address and contact details.
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Our service providers — hosting, email and accounting, under contract.
- Authorities — where we are legally required to.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertising networks.
7. How long we keep it
Order and invoice records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires (typically six to seven years). Artwork files are kept for the life of your trade account so reorders do not need re-proofing. Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe. Website technical logs are kept for a short period only.
8. Cookies and local storage
The demo sets no cookies. It uses your browser's localStorage to remember
your cart, clinic name and chosen foil colour on your own device; this data is never sent to
us. The live store will additionally use a small number of strictly necessary cookies for
checkout and fraud prevention, and will ask before setting anything for analytics.
9. International transfers
Producing your order involves sending your clinic name and artwork to our manufacturer in Nepal. Where information leaves your region we use appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, and share only what production requires.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you are, you may have the right to access the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, contact us at the address below. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
11. Security
The live site will be served over HTTPS, with access to order data limited to staff who need it and payment handled entirely by Stripe. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the data we hold.
12. Changes and contact
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell trade customers by email.
